Safety & Standards
No Aircraft Boards Unvetted
How we screen every operator, aircraft, and crew in our network — and the regulations that protect every charter flight we arrange.
How We Vet
Four gates before a booking is final
Velaire does not own or operate aircraft — which is exactly why we can be selective about the operators we work with.
Operator screening
Current FAA Part 135 certificate, ARGUS or Wyvern rating, and an insurance certificate on file. No certificate, no rating, no exceptions.
Aircraft confirmation
We confirm the specific tail number, its rating status, and cabin configuration with the operator before your quote is final.
Crew standards
We book only two-pilot crews and confirm the operator's crew currency requirements for your flight.
Ongoing review
Ratings and insurance certificates are rechecked at each booking. Operators that lapse are not used.
The Regulatory Framework
Compliant by Design
Private charter is one of the most regulated forms of travel. Here is exactly where Velaire fits — and what protects you at every step.
FAA Part 135 Carriers
Every charter flight is performed by a FAA-certificated direct air carrier under Part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. The carrier — not Velaire — exercises full operational control of the flight, as required by law.
U.S. DOT Broker Rules
As an air charter broker, Velaire operates under U.S. Department of Transportation regulations, including 14 CFR Part 295, which governs broker disclosure, advertising, and consumer protection obligations.
Escrow & Payment Protection
Charter payments are handled in accordance with DOT escrow and accountability requirements where applicable, so client funds are protected between booking and the completed mission.
Independent Safety Ratings
We require current ARGUS or Wyvern third-party safety ratings from every operator in our network — independent audits of management, operations, and maintenance that go beyond minimum FAA compliance.
Required Disclosure
Velaire Aviation is an air charter broker and not a direct air carrier. We do not own or operate aircraft and do not maintain operational control of any flight. All charter flights are performed by properly licensed, FAA-certificated direct air carriers exercising full operational control, and are subject to U.S. Department of Transportation regulations, including escrow and disclosure requirements where applicable.
